Symptom
Every time you launch the TOPO! Explorer application from the Windows Shortcut (likely placed in your start menu) the application prompts you that a new version is available, launches an installer, and prompts you to insert a disc to continue. This problem has only been found with users that have installed the TOPO! Explorer application that came included in a retail box. This problem has not been found with those that originally installed the TOPO! Explorer application as a download. The problem only pertains to Windows.
The Issue
The Windows created shortcut is corrupt and is pointing to an old application. This can be easily fixed by following the directions below.
Step-by-Step
1. Browse your Windows Start menu and locate the TOPO! Explorer icon/shortcut, that you normally use to launch the application.
2. Right click and either choose to "delete" or "remove from list"
3. To create a new shortcut ... Browse to your C:Drive/ Program Files/ TOPO! Explorer folder.
4. Locate the application "TOPOexplorer", right-click and choose "Create Shortcut". NOTE: do not create a shortcut to the application "TE" - this will result in later problems.
5. Drag the newly created shortcut to your Windows Start menu, desktop, or wherever else you find convenient.
6. Use your new shortcut to launch the TOPO Explorer application.
