Overview

This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to configure and complete the transfer of maps to your Triton GPS. See our How to Select Maps for Transfer to a Triton before reading this article as it details the steps within the TOPO! application for selecting your maps for export.

1. To transfer maps to a Triton begin by ensuring that you have the latest firmware for your Triton, and the TOPO! 4.5.0 application. You can download TOPO! here.

3. Connect your Triton via the USB cable, launch TOPO!, and then power on your Triton. You will likely see the Triton recognized by Windows and a tray icon next to the clock may appear (this is normal).

4. Ensure your Triton is in the correct connectivity mode. To do so, simply click to the "View", "Settings", then "Connectivity" menu. Select "Connect to PC". (If you are running an older version of Triton Firmware this option will not be available - instead a "VantagePoint" mode can be selected.) However It's recommended that you upgrade your firmware before continuing...

5. Follow the instructions in the How to Select Maps for Transfer to a Triton to define your export area.

6. Progress bars at the bottom of the TOPO! application will display the status of the export to your GPSr.

7. Once the export is complete, activate the use of your map by disconnecting your Triton from your PC. Next navigate to the "View", "Maps" menu on your Triton. Locate your exported map by name. Activate by clicking the small icon to the left of the map name. Active map icons do not have a red diagonal line through them, deactivated do. You can have one detailed map active at a time.

8. View your map by returning to the map screen, panning to the location of your detailed map and zooming in. Coverage boundaries of your detailed map are shown by a red bounding box.
