Overview
Trip Reports are brief updates that can be provided by any registered TOPO Explorer user. They are found on each Trip File in the bottom right hand corner of the page. Unlike a Trip Review or Rating - Trip Reports provide users that have just been to this location to post a note to the community about conditions at a given place on a given date. Consider Trip Reports a way to get up-to-date information about a trail or park from someone that was just there.
Step-by-Step
1. Login to your TOPO Explorer Account.
2. Navigate to a Trip File. For example we highlight 6 Trip Files in our Staff Favorites section on the Explore Page
3. Scroll down to the bottom half of the Trip File page and you'll see the Trip Report bucket on the right.
4. Click the "Add Trip Report" button
5. Complete the form - beginning with the date that you visited this area then with the description/updated information of your visit. Remember that this form field uses Textile Reference so you can add links and other HTML tags.
6. Rate your experience from 1 - 5 stars. 5 being the best.
7. If your experience took place at a specific place - click the "add location marker" icon. This will place a small red button on the map above which you can drag to a place on a map. Consider this a great way to note a campsite, trailhead, or road closure.
8. Once completed - simply click "Submit". Your Trip Report will be posted instantly!
