Overview
TOPO! Explorer Deluxe, available at retailers, contains 2 DVDs which have a complete nationwide set of USGS 1:100k scale topographic maps for the entire US. Once installed and activated users can browse these maps from the included DVDs or stream the map layer from the internet. Directions below cover the basics of these two operations.
Step-by-Step
Viewing Maps from the DVD
1. Launch TOPO! Explorer, zoom into the US Maps
2. At level 4 you will be prompted to either insert a TOPO! Explorer Deluxe Disc or stream the maps from the internet. If inset the Disc the USGS maps will be read from the drive and internet access is not required. If you choose to download as necessary from the web, the maps will be streamed and saved to your hard drive - however you will need internet access.
2. Insert either Disc 1 or Disc 2 as prompted by the message. With TOPO! Explorer Deluxe you can view map levels 1 - 5. Aerial and Hybrid imagery will be available on levels 1-4. To add additional detail levels 6-8, or aerial imagery and hybrids to 5-8 you can purchase and download SuperQuads from the map store.
Viewing Maps from the Web
1. Launch TOPO! Explorer, zoom into the US maps
2. At level 4 you will be prompted to either insert a TOPO! Explorer Deluxe Disc or stream the maps from the internet. Choose to stream maps from the web. In this case you will not be prompted to insert a particular DVD, instead maps will be downloaded and saved to your harddrive on demand. This will require an internet connection.
