TOPO! Explorer

Overview

TOPO! Explorer Deluxe, available at retailers, contains 2 DVDs which have a complete nationwide set of USGS 1:100k scale topographic maps for the entire US. Once installed and activated users can browse these maps from the included DVDs or stream the map layer from the internet. Should you have significant hard drive space and wish to copy the map data locally, follow the directions below.

Step-by-Step

PC Instructions:

1. Insert either Deluxe DVD 1 or DVD 2 into your DVD Drive. Disc 1 covers the Western US (West of Oklahoma) - Disc 2 covers the Eastern US (Oklahoma eastward).

2. Browse the DVD and locate either the "DX_D01" or the "DX_D02" folder - copy and paste this folder to the root directory of your drive. For example :: "C:/"

3. Once copied, close and restart TOPO! Explorer - your data will now be pulled from the local folder.

Note: Data Folders are very large! Each is approximately 4GB in size.


Mac Instructions:

1. Insert the "Map Data" DVD that you would like to save into your disc drive. Disc 1 covers the Western US (West of Oklahoma) - Disc 2 covers the Eastern US (Oklahoma eastward).

2.Copy and paste the DX_D01 or the DX_D02 folder to the top level of your Mac hard drive (*not the Applications folder).

3. Once copied, close and restart TOPO! Explorer.

Note: Data Folders are very large! Each is approximately 4GB in size.
