Transferring Tracks

  1. Login to TOPO! Explorer Desktop application and perform any prompted live updates.
  2. Connect you GPS unit to your computer and power it on. If prompted, install the needed manufacturer specific drivers so that your GPS can communicate properly with your computer. It's highly recommended that you visit the website of your GPS manufacturer to do so.
  3. Navigate to the lower left hand corner of the screen. Under the "Import/Export" menu select "GPS-connect."
  4. Press the "Automatically Detect" button under the "Connect to GPS" heading.
  5. TOPO! Explorer should then tell you "status: Connected to GPS device." If TOPO! Explorer reads "Status: Failed to find any connected GPS devices," please check your connection and repeat steps 1-4 again.
  6. Under "Import from GPS" click 'Tracks'.
  7. After transferring your 'Tracks' successfully, TOPO! Explorer will say "Tracks successfully imported."
  8. To view your imported tracks, visit the Library category on the left hand side of the screen and click the 'GPS Tracks' link.
  9. Finally, click the name of your desired track to view more detailed information.
