Overview
TOPO! Explorer uses a new set of online maps, known as SuperQuads, available for download from the online map store. This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to use the map store to find, select and download maps.
Step-by-Step
1. Sign in to your TOPO! Explorer account
2. Navigate to the map store. Note - if you are browsing the online maps and wish to purchase one that you currently see on screen - simply click the "Download TOPO! Maps" link in the top-right portion of the screen. This will retain you current map view.
3. Use the map window on the Store page to zoom into the US map on the location you wish to download SuperQuads. The overview window in the upper-left portion of the screen will show you the name and outline of the SuperQuad you are currently centered on. Note SuperQuads are named after the USGS 1:24k scale topo maps of the same area.
4. As you zoom into progressively more detailed maps in the right hand window, you will see they area of your download bounded by a dark gray outline. The left map window continues to show the name of the SuperQuad. At zoom levels 5 and higher - the left map window will also display a blue rectangle, this translates to the map area shown in the right window. Use this as a point of reference to ensure that you are purchasing the correct SuperQuad.
5. Add a SuperQuad to your cart by selecting the "Add to Cart" button directly below the left map window. Note that your selected SuperQuad will appear in your Shopping Cart and turns yellow. Continue this process adding desired maps to your Shopping Cart.
6. Once you've selected your desired maps - click the "Proceed to Checkout" button at the bottom of the page. An order review page will appear showing you the number of map credits necessary to complete your transaction and the number of map credits you currently have.
7. If you do not have any Map Credits you will be prompted to either enter a serial number provided to you through the purchase of a TOPO! Explorer retail package or to purchase map credits using a credit card.
8. Upon completing your credit card or serial number driven purchase your SuperQuad will be ready for download using the TOPO! Explorer Desktop application. If you have not downloaded the application yet - links will appear on the "Thank You" page to do so.
